Hey I just started playing this online game that you can play through your browser called Rule the Seas. It's pretty entertaining, especially if you are bored at work or at school or have some spare time while playing TFC. This isn't a TFC replacement at all, only a supplement. It doesn't require constant attention, I usually leave it running in the background while I play TFC.

Here is the link if you want to try it: Rule the Seas! (http://www.ruletheseas.com/index.php?r=27240)

A little more info, how it works:
Basically you're a pirate and you get xp and work on skills and stuff. You can attack or mug other players for xp, mug other players for cash, and bust people out of prison for xp too. Just some quick advice:
1) Lucky Dip everyday at the Casino
2) Get a bank account as soon as you have $25000
3) Dig for treasure 100 times everyday (all can be done at 1 time). Sometimes you'll find a rare item
4) Vote for the ruletheseas, and get 24 points everyday. You can sell each point for about $200000 each on the Point Market and quickly get cash
5) Busting people out of prison is a really easy way to get xp if you are just starting out
6) The better the house you have, the more skill you get from training.
7) There is a forum within the game that answered a lot of questions for me, so check it out. Also there is a newbie guide on the commands menu.

If you decide to check it out and have any other questions you can reply to this thread or send me a PM.

It's pretty fun to have running in the back ground while you're regaining on the MUD. Thanks Asher

Yes, I did get addicted to this game, but I warn you NOT to play it. I played it for 40days, was lvl 103 I think and had $70 in real cash spent into it. I logged into it early in the morning, just checking my messages on their before I went to work, when I got back from work, I went to check it and find out that I have been banned, with no reason. I tried to find a way to email them about it, but in order to talk to them, you have to be logged in. When I try to log in, I have a line through my name and the page constantly refreshes keeping you from contacting the admins. I'm p*ssed off mainly because of the real money I put into it and the hours of gameplay, therefor I'm not playing these stupid text games.

ALSO ABOUT TFC, Months ago my character was somehow hacked into, they stole ALL my eq, all my stored items at mish, and all my gold. I did continue on though and continued to play after changing my password.

So after being screwed on two games in a row, I'm done playing for a few years. Later

This seems like a good time to remind people of a few basic principles.

1. Choose difficult to guess passwords of sufficient length.
2. Don't share your character with anyone.
3. Avoid saving your password in your client (zMUD, etc.), especially if there is a chance that someone could try to access your character.
4. Provide timely report if you think your character has been accessed by someone other than you.

I played rule the seas for maybe a month while i did homework since i didnt have to pay attention to it. A month was more then enough, the repetitive monotony of train kill lvl tired me out... there wasnt enough creativity offered for me there... point click point click blah blah blah... ... ps i hate games that force you to pay rl cash to enjoy them... refused to.. and maybe thats why it was so boring for me. I have been at tfc since i was 14 years old, thats 9+ years.... I still love it.

thank you

My old TFC password was hzx72MDzy4 (old password geocities gave me years ago that got stuck in my head), I think that is a pretty crazy password for someone to guess. Also the password was never stored or used for any other game or website. The password I use now is even more insane than that one.

And why did you remove my accusation. I'm 99.9% positive that he/she is the one who did it. They were made the day my character was messed with and was also seen with my exact items in their inventory. I'm sure he/she has a different character now, but I'm sure they will still have some of those items I had, just a matter of time before I find out who, since I always keep a detailed list (in notepad) of all my inventory and equipment I am currently using.

And on the Rule The Seas part, I was angry that day, but after 3 days I finally got ahold of the administrators on that game and they unbanned me, said they somehow accidentally banned. Silly pirates! But yes..

I am playing that game again, in the background of coarse, but for as TFC, I am still not playing at the moment since I finally bought a new gaming console, xbox 360, (last console I owned was back in the N64/ps1 days), so I am hooked on playing Gears of War on xbox live right now, and Halo 3 when it comes out Tuesday... ack.. all the great games I missed out on!

But I will be back to TFC one day, I just get burnt out on it every few years. ::huh::

ruletheseas.com stole the code from piratequest.net. Piratequest is almost identical, albeit more realistic money-wise. (On ruletheseas, I have 30 million gold. On piratequest, I have about 10,000). There's more players on ruletheseas, but there's a lot more cheating and underhanded things that are done by the admins.

Just be careful. :) They're both fun.
