Is there a way to limit this to counting only the posts that the user has access to? Either this link doesn't work or all the new posts are in forums that I don't have access to.

When I logged in today it said:
Welcome, Anonymous Mammal.
1 New Post (http://forums.finalchallenge.net/search.php?do=getnew) since your last visit. However, when I click the link, it always says:
Sorry, there are no new threads to view.

You may search for threads updated during the previous 24 hours, here (http://forums.finalchallenge.net/search.php?do=getdaily).I believe, though I haven't clicked that link all that often, that I get that same message even when there are new posts in the public forums that I do have access to.

Yet, When I click on the New Post link,, nothing ...
so I'm guessing it must be invisible ink or a secret code
I guess I should look for my secret decoder ring! ::whistle::

I see your point. The code in question is from an optional 3rd party module. They may have coded it this way out of response considerations, I don't know. "Fixing" the problem would require me digging into the board code and customizing it. I'm not sure I want to start down the road of that sort of customization, so I can instead forward your suggestion to the developer.

After I made the post, the thing said 2 new posts. One must have been the one I had just made. So I clicked the link again and still got the same response.

It's not anything major so if it doesn't get fixed, my feelings won't be hurt. I understand the troubles you would have to go through to fix it yourself and I don't blame you one bit for sending the suggestion to the plugin author.

Hey, out of curiousity, are you still seeing the behavior you previously reported?

I always get that message when the only new posts to look at are my own....new posts, but I don't need to look at them and there are none to view...cause I wrote em, hehe

I can't say that it's the same behavior as before, but it still seems inaccurate.

36 Unread Posts (http://forums.finalchallenge.net/search.php?do=getnew) since your last visit. However, when I click the link I get a list of posts with the line at the bottom reading:
Showing results 1 to 17 of 17This may be because of multiple posts in an unread thread, since I don't notice any threads being shown more than once. It does, at least, give me a list of posts to check out, so this is better.

Being a little nit-picky here, but it would read better if it said "36 Unread Posts in 17 Threads since your last visit." But, hey, this is better than nothing. ::up::

Yeah, it counts a total of posts you haven't seen across all threads you have access to. Since I just check new threads, that doesn't bother me lol...

If it ain't broke don't fix it! ;)
