View Full Version : Weapon Purging

I think the new weapon purging code is a good idea, but there could be a few problems arise from it. Some people have had their weapons altered from winning quests. At the time that the prizes were on the weapons they weren't purging. Many people won't use a change flag or additonal stat on a limited item because of their purging nature.

In short: I think all weapons that have been altered by a god+ through a quest prize should be excluded from purging.

Yet, if they are limited, is that appropriate?

And indeed, if it is appropriate to not purge restrung weapons, could the same be said for any restrung limited items?

Or, is it unfair to the more active players for an inactive player with restrung item(s) has limited items that thus won't purge?

I wouldn't worry so much about restrings, those are easy enough to come by. I was thinking more of people who have won major quests and have gotten a ND flag or who won a 6/7 enchant that they've used on their weapon.

I think if people want to restring or alter limiteds, or even weapons from this point on, it is their own choice and should not complain if they loose them. I think the only things that should be considered are the ones that were altered before the purge code.

I tend to agree with quest-prize-enhanced weapons being excluded, or at least take much longer to purge. Also, do weapons now purge faster than regular limiteds? I had to repop mine already, and Im trying to log on as often as possible (I'm travelling for about another month, but dropping in most times i find an internet cafe that hasnt blocked telnet)

... enhance a limited weapon...assume the risk of loosing it.

I completely agree with you on this. However, my point was...the people who enhanced a limited weapon BEFORE there was a risk. If you want to take that risk now, go for it but know it is a risk. If you enhanced the weapon without there being a risk you shouldn't be punished now.

Items being Limited are at risk by default. That is their nature. That is why they have the nifty Limited flag, to point that out. I think that risk should have been obvious from the start.

To me the issue seems to be, "I saw the sign that the stove is hot. Until now, the stove has been turned off. Now that I actually touched the stove while it was hot; I want heat protection."

I wish Tynian luck with this one. I've been noodling a fair to everyone response but am without one.

Hrm. What if the weapon you were given as a quest prize has suddenly turned out to be limited?

Ok, so I need some usage rules now, this was all fine and dandy till a weapon I've been using purged in less than 2 weeks of popping it....it may not have been constant use, but I was using it quite a bit, I've been fairly active....I don't get it....

-morgaineAre you suggesting a "rent" system?

... lost a weapon after having it for 2 weeks... this new rule sucks, dmg-cap-style.

Not that I am active much anymore, but I logged in after two weeks of not playing and had a worn weapon purge off me. I didn't think it'd effect the ones you were WEARING! Yikes! Maybe just change it to those in the inventory?

I think Tynian should be a little more forthcoming with information on just how this new purging system is *supposed* to work so that the people it affects can tell if it IS working as intended or not.

Weapon purging is working correctly. I watched someone with a limited weapon, and things were working right.

I still think that worn items, limited or not, should not purge no matter how long they've actually been used.

Well, it's been that way for a long time, so people could hoard stuff on 1 or 2 chars and effectively lock those items out of game, even if they don't even play those chars.

I'd rather have half a chance of popping the item myself and maybe using it.....other people might like to use the item too you know....

....and I'd like to rescind my former complaint.....I just hate the thought of constantly losing my spare weapons, but that does seem a little right....

Since the purge code is working as it is suppose to....are purged items suppose to go to mish. Because that seems kind of counterproductive to the word purge.

I always heard it did, which doesn't seem counterproductive to me, just means you can get lucky and have the top bid on something nice if you have the gold....not like there's overmuch uses for it anymore....
