Can Whoz display the name of the zone you are in?

I'm not sure I really want to emphasize zones, which are (or should be) artificial and invisible boundaries.

Why do you want the area name in whozone?

And for that matter..why would that kind of information want to be shared in the first place? half the fun is exploring and mapping things in your head(or on paper/computer).

would also make certain quests far easier..*cough* not to mention telling people where you are when you bad recall and die..

I like it the way it is personally..though in theory the idea has merit.

Yeah--though it would make certain aspects of the game easier, I like it how it is now.

I concur, and to that effect I'd like to see whozone relative to your location, rather than the zone you're in. It would be downright nifty to have whozone check the 100 rooms closest to you, rather than the 'zone' itself.

Having said that, it'd be a real monster to code, without a whole lot of benefit (other than the gee-neat points).

Although I hate to admit it, Schwartz has a great idea, although 100 rooms might even be too much. To make coding even harder, Id suggest it improve with levels and potentially certain classes (i.e. ranger and thief have wider range). I mean who really can tell who is in the entire forest with them? In reality you should only be able to tell who is pretty close to you...

I have no problems with reality, so long as it doesn't detract from game play.

I'm of two minds on the suggestion itself.

well it would make alarm that more useful. also, it could open the way for a new spell, or an enhancement to say a spell such as attune? How much more effective would a spell like attune be if it widened your whozone capabilities? Indeed, perhaps attune could be modified to allow you to expand whoz into areas close by? This would help offset the huge disadvantage Shamans have that they cannot see anyone?

Ok- sorry Im just making stuff up...but think about it.

From a non-PKer's standpoint, it would make staying alive much harder if you narrowed the whoz down to so many rooms around you. I'm not sure if this would scare away non-PKers from the game or not. Personally, I know that I would not like it changed in that fashion. However, I do have to admit that, realistically, it makes sense to have it that way. TFC has always been full PK and probably always will be. In lieu of that, though, you have to carefully weigh the risks you take with changes that might deter certain people away from the game...not that I needed to mention that. I guess I'm rambling. Sorry!

The way the current system works, the pker can _literally_ be in the room next to you and not show up in whozone, right? They can also be 20 rooms away, depending on the 'size' of the area. So, maybe a new whozone command gives you a 10- or 15-room radius....?

Having said that, I don't wanna code it, I just want to suggest it. ::whistle::
