View Full Version : Hide and Pass W/O

I'm too lazy to post these seperately, so I'm lumping 2 into 1.
Is it possible to make it so you can remain hidden without voiding? If I'm hiding and waiting on whatever, I get nice and hidden, and then am unable to remain hidden without voiding out. Perhaps I could check board notes or something while hidden?
Much like the invis spell where you can make yourself visible, is it possible to make it so I can leave tracks when I want to even with the spell pass w/o up? Seems to me I could make a concsious effort to smash my feet down and leave tracks.
Why would I want to do that? If I'm in a maze zone, and going in circles, I might want to track my own steps. I may want to cover up someone elses tracks for snoopy rangers/thieves who were following them. I may want to lure a tracker to come find me. If I've recently casted pass w/o out of habit, it's a long lasting spell.
Not "the next great idea" or anything, just two things I'd like to see.

I agree, Maeron. The way hide works now, things like pray and ftell - which could have an IC explanation of being strictly "mental" - break one's hide. And meta-game commands like score, or board/note commands do as well. It would be nice if hide only broke for physical commands like movement, emotes, etc.
Along the same lines, I'd like to see hide implemented differently for rangers and thieves. Rangers doing better in outdoor settings and thieves in urban settings.
And while we're at it (sorry for the T/J Maeron :) ) - I'm not 100% positive, but it seems to me sneak won't work against mobs. Could it be altered in some way such that sneaking into a room doesn't trigger aggros automatically?
Thanks!

I agree with Pol and Maeron with respect to Hide and Sneak (although not sure about having it different for thieves and rangers). It seems at the very least you should be able to do the following without breaking hide: read notes, read boards, ftell and pray.
Pol also suggests a good idea with respect to sneak.
I do not however agree with Maeron's comment regarding pass without a trace. If you cast a spell that prevents you from leaving tracks, I dont think even an intentional effort should be able to override the spell. I think he is suggesting a toggle. Perhaps you could cancel the spell and have to recast it, but if the spell is on you should not leave tracks.

I see your point. I'm not crazy about cataloging the set of commands won't unhide you, especially since I've always considered that the trade-off for hide. ;) Nonetheless, I'll consider it.

Except the magic that's preventing you from leaving the tracks. I disagree with what you are proposing.

Funny you mention that. I used to drop gold coins when I'd get lost in a maze zone.
